How to prep your art for print

Best file format and resolution for your art.

The best file format to send your artwork in is an .AI file or Adobe Illustrator file.

Or

.PSD file or Adobe Photoshop file scaled to the size you want your artwork printed and saved at 300 DPI with each color on its own layer for spot color art.

The next best formats would be vector .PDF and .EPS files.

Accurate Colors.

When creating art we recommend always working in RGB. If the file calls for being converted to 4 color or simulated process we must have an RGB file to start with.

If you have a color you want represented properly, calling out a PANTONE match and sending that with your art is the best way.

If you do not specify a pantone color we will use the closest color we have available.

Make sure to outline your fonts.

When sending text it is best to “outline” your fonts or turn them into a vector shape instead of a font file that someone else’s computer might not have.

To outline your fonts in Adobe Illustrator select all the text in your document then go to the “type” menu from the top bar of your program, then select “create outlines”, save your file and you’re done!

Pro Tip: Always keep a working file with live text and not outlined. You may want to go back and change something or just be able to remember what font you used.

Artwork sizing and placement.

Your artwork sizing and placement should be sent with your art.

If not specified we will use the standard sizing and placement protocols that we follow.
